Stephenville earned two special honors and eight total awards on the District 7-3A all-district baseball team, released Monday after the co-champion Yellow Jackets and Alvarado Indians were eliminated from the state playoffs over the weekend.
Senior Daniel Bullard was named pitcher of the year and junior Ben Martin co-utility player of the year to headline Stephenville's honors. Bullard had a hand in three no hitters, one of them a complete-game effort, and Martin primarily played shortstop, third base and centerfield while also serving as an effective relief pitcher and a successful leadoff batter.
Stephenville junior Brock Morrison earned first-team honors at pitcher, while juniors Maddux Conger and Josh Bulla were named first-team outfielders in a vote of the league's head coaches. Senior Noah Hobbs and junior Alex Jimenez are on the first-team roster at first base and second base, respectively.
The lone Yellow Jacket on the second-team list is outfielder Colby Woodard.
Senior Dylan Lemons of Alvarado, a power-hitting first baseman and pitcher, was voted the league's most valuable player, while Venus senior Patrick Mathis was named offensive player of the year and Alvarado senior Jay Holland defensive player of the year. Newcomer of the year went to Adam Oviedo, an Alvarado freshman, while Kelby Storm, a Venus freshman, shared the utility honor with Martin.
Hillsboro took coaching staff of the year honors.
