Live Simulcast
« on: August 30, 2012, 09:24:36 PM »
From the KSTV Website:

KSTV Sports In-Stadium Simulcasts

Would you like to hear the broadcast in stadium on the road in real time?  We have a new system this year that will allow you to do just that.  It works with Android and Apple smart phones.  We currently support Andriod, I-Phone, Windows, Mac, and Linux devices.  Click on the link below to set up your device for the simulcasts.  Do these steps BEFORE you get to the game.

KSTV In-Stadium Live WIFI Simulcast Setup

The will get around the problem where games cannot be simulcast from inside some stadiums. (Cowboy Stadium)

I talked to Justin the morning and the wireless radios they have work all over the stadium.  It is a pretty nice setup.  With only a 0.5 second delay.

They are still working on improving the simulcast setup.  It would probably help them if you could post your thoughts here from last week and each week going forward.

Where were you sitting?
What type of device were you using?
Your thoughts on the audio quality?

One issue I noticed is that when connected to the KSTV WiFi that I would lose my internet connectivity since all internet traffic is trying to be routed through wifi (and the KSTV WiFi has no internet - since they don't want everybody burning up their bandwidth)

One thing that might help would be to remove the Default Gateway from the DHCP server on the KSTV AP.  I will manually configure mine this week and let you know.

i already gave boots some feedback but this is what i told him...

it worked fine, but once more than 3 or 4 people connected, it got choppy, and eventually would disconnect me.
when i was connected, it was fine, but if i got kicked off, it would take 10-15 minutes before it would let me back on.

not being able to browse the internet at the same time was annoying, had i known that, i probably wouldn't have got this app, would have just got an am/fm radio.

i was on an iphone.

More improvements have been made for this week in regards to antenna placement. This should help. As this is brand new technology for something like this endeavor, we will have growing pains. Please stay patient as this is important to us for our fans to be able to hear on the road.

I did some testing here with WiFi for LAN access and 3G for WAN access and was able to get it to work for both.

So when the configuration changes are made to the KSTV APs you should be able to do TeamSpeak on the WiFi LAN and still get to the internet over 3G.

just so everybody knows, this service will only be available at away games so if you want to listen to the live broadcast at home games, you will need an am/fm radio or you can listed to the webcast, but it has a slight delay...
